Aircraft and other metal structures are made up of a number
of assemblies that are riveted or bolted together. Attaching
holes are a necessary part of the design. However, these
holes concentrate stresses and under cyclic tensile loads
are primary sources of fatigue cracks, which start from
microscopic defects in the material. Over a period of
time these cracks can result in fatigue failure of the
structure.
FTI’s proven Split Sleeve Cold Expansion system
can prevent these cracks from becoming serious problems.
